ROH World Title Match Announced For War Of The Worlds Tour

ROH issued the following:

For the fourth straight year, Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling present the War of the Worlds Tour! With a partnership stronger than ever, the stars of ROH and NJPW will do battle with an against one another in dream matches fans around the world have been clamoring to see.
On Wednesday, May 10, the War of the Worlds Tour stops in Dearborn, MI. It was just one year ago that the Dearborn stop saw Hangman Page earn his nickname when he shocked the world and attempted to hang Chris Sabin in front of his hometown crowd and the Addiction capture the ROH World Tag Team Championship from War Machine. This year, the main event has been signed and the ROH World Title is on the line!
At Manhattan Mayhem, the Kingdom executed their plan to use their numbers advantage in the Honor Royale. With a final three of Vinny Marseglia, Chris Sabin, and Matt Taven, Taven earned the victory and a ROH World Title shot. Taven has announced that he will be cashing in his title shot in the main event in Dearborn when he takes on the ROH World Champion “Almighty” Christopher Daniels!
Taven informed the ROH Board of Directors shortly before ROH’s international television taping in Baltimore that he wanted to cash in his World Title shot under the bright lights and on the stage of the War of the Worlds Tour. Taven received word that his request had been granted and he proceeded to send a statement at the television taping, using Daniels’ signature Angels’ Wings finishing move to get under the skin of the champion who was at the commentary table during Taven’s bout to scout but had not yet officially signed the contract.
Now, the contract has been signed and it will be Daniels and Taven going one-on-one for the very first time with the title on the line! These two have done battle before in tag team action, with Taven and the Kingdom emerging victorious for the ROH World Tag Team titles in 2015 over the Addiction! While Daniels may have the experience edge, Taven may have the mental edge with victories in their three most-recent tag team battles!
Daniels’ history-making victory at 15th Anniversary was a 23-year peak for a career that had been filled with every accolade minus a World Championship. But Taven could make even bigger history – with a win in Dearborn, Taven could become the very first ROH star to capture all four championships! The winner will then go on to the main event at the War of the Worlds Pay Per View at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday May 12 to defend the World Championship!
There is nothing like seeing the hard-hitting, fast-paced, in-your-face action of ROH and NJPW live! Every year, the War of the Worlds Tour stops featuring the stars of ROH and NJPW sell out, so don’t miss your opportunity to be there! Who will walk out of Dearborn World Champion and head to the main event of the War of the Worlds Pay Per View? Join us in Dearborn to find out!
