WWE Network Adding Independent Wrestling Content

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Based on reports, WWE has finally come to a decision on adding independent promotional content to the WWE Network.

WWE has come to terms with Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) which is based out of the UK to add their content to the On-Demand section of the WWE Network. It should be noted that a number of other promotions are also in talks with WWE.

WWE has been contemplating this idea to add more promotions to the network for a while. WWE in the past have issued fan surveys which to no ones surprise, favored many non-WWE products. Vince McMahon was said to be back-and-forth with the idea, but has finally come to a decision and has approved this action to move forward.

Based on reports, the newly crowned UK Championship will be allowed to be defended on ICW, OTT and possible even PROGRESS Wrestling until WWE is able to develop their own weekly show in the UK.

The ICW deal is said to be 2-3 years and will showcase content which is toned down.

What are your thoughts on this? Will this generate more subscribers for the Network? Is this the right move?

Drew Galloway Out-Of-Action Longer Than Expected

Drew Galloway who suffered a neck injury back in September has gone to twitter and revealed that he may be out of action for longer than anticipated.

Gallows is slated to miss a  few shows in November ranging from NJPW, Revolution Pro Wrestling and an EVOLVE show scheduled on November 12. Gallows at this time is expected to make a return to his normal schedule for November 16th. He is still set to appear at the ICW’s Fear and Loathing event on November 20th.

See his tweet and transcript below (transcript sourced from F4WOnline.com)

“Have some good and not so good news yesterday speaking with the Doctor treating me. Good news is that I will be back to 100 percent and the injury that occurred will have zero affect on me in the future, the bad news is he wants me to wait the full recommended recovery time to ensure, with my physical style in the ring, I will be fully recovered.”

“This will cause me to be unable to compete in my Rev Pro match with Honma I was very much looking forward to, and the Matt Riddle match at Evolve (which will happen ASAP and I guarantee will blow the roof off). I will, however, be at all the shows so come say what’s up and I’ll be back in the ring within a few weeks. Thank you all for your concern and support.”
