Kane Talks About Undertakers Retirement, Potential Return, & More

In a recent interview with Gulf News, WWE talent Kane spoke about Undertakers retirement, returning to WWE and more.

Here are some highlights:

Undertaker’s Last Match At WrestleMania 33:

“Well, Undertaker can take care of himself! We all knew at some point that was inevitable, but nevertheless it’s, sad because for me it’s like a chapter has closed, and I think a lot of WWE fans feel the same way.”

Potential WWE return:

“That is, as we say in the States, TBD, to be determined. And I wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises if I did know…”

Favorite manager in his career:

Paul Bearer. Cos he’s my dad! But no, I owe a lot to Paul Bearer because when I came in he helped me learn the ropes. Being on the road we travel all the time of course, he helped me tremendously in that area, he didn’t have to do that but he did. So he took a lot of what would have been stress off of me so I could concentrate on doing the other things and I’m very grateful for that.

Who stands out to Kane as a star in WWE:

I don’t know, because that’s very hard to tell. NXT is a great product and certainly has already had a huge impact on our business. I mean guys like The Shield, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, all these guys who have come through. Samoa Joe of course is going to make a huge impact.

What’s great about NXT is you have a nice mix of guys new to the business in general, and then there are guys who are new to WWE but who are established names in the business. It’s very hard to say who will be the next great superstar. There’s a number of people who have the potential to do that.

Kane Talks About Potential Retirement & Brock Lesnar in UFC200

Kane recently spoke with Jeramie and Sam McPeek of the Like Father, Like Son Podcast. During the interview, Kane covered a few subjects which included his retirement & Brock Lesnar in UFC200.

Kane thinking about retiring:

“Not really. It’s still fun. I have a lot of fun now with the younger guys and just being in the position that I’m in, as more of a mentor at times. I’ve also been very fortunate that I haven’t had many injuries, so my body still feels good. I can’t say it feels as good as it did when I was 25, but it still feels good and I can still do most of the things that I used to be able to do. And I still think that I perform at a high level, even when I’m in there literally against guys that are half my age sometimes. I think they still have to keep up with me.”

Brock Lesnar in UFC200:

“I think that’s good for both brands, frankly. Brock Lesnar is one of those guys, like The Rock has done in movies… Brock has done the same thing in UFC and MMA. He has transcended WWE and that sport, and I think he helps bring UFC and MMA fans into WWE, and vice versa. So anytime someone has crossover appeal like that, I think it’s good for everybody.”

Kane Thinking of Running For Mayor Of Tennessee

WWE Superstar Kane recently spoke with an NBC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee and revealed that he is considering a run for the Knox County mayoral seat in 2018.

Here’s what Kane had to say:

“Yes, I’ve talked about it with some folks but there’s nothing too solid yet. Mayor Burchett’s term is coming up and I think he’s been really good for Knox County. I think the most important thing is I care very deeply about this community, like a lot of people do. And that’s the only reason I would consider getting into any sort of government because I do care very deeply. And I think it’s incumbent upon people who care about the communities to try to make a difference. What I’ve seen in Knox County the past several years is that taxes have remained low because it’s a great place to live. People move here and that helps expands the tax base. My political philosophy is the ‘smaller the better. Government should stay out of the way and let free enterprise do what it does best.”

Kane Talks About Daniel Bryan’s Retirement

Kane recently spoke with The Nottingham Post to promote the upcoming WWE UK tour and talked about Daniel Bryan’s retirement.

Her’s what he had to say:

“He was a great performer and it is such a loss. We had a lot of good times together (as Team Hell No) and I have often gone on record in saying that my time with Daniel Bryan was the most fun I had during my time in the WWE. While it is sad he has had to retire, it was the right decision for him in terms of his health. He is still an amazing talent.”

Kane Says He Still Wants To Main Event A WrestleMania

During a recent interview with The Whig-Standard to promote tonight’s WWE Roadblock special and upcoming WrestleMania, Kane said he still wants to main event WrestleMania and wants to give back to some of the younger talent.

Here what he had to say:

“It doesn’t last long as far as the window that you have, the opportunity that you have, to really enjoy WrestleMania and your career in general, frankly. I’ve been around quite a while, but that’s really not par for the course. That’s an exception to the rule. The average WWE career is much shorter than that. I would say just to have a good time, do the best that you possibly can, of course, but enjoy yourself while you’re there.”

Kane Comments On Shane vs. The Undertaker & Why Taker Would Agree To It

Kane spoke with Talks Sport to promote the upcoming WrestleMania 32 and the WWE UK tour.

Here are the highlights.

On the Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker match:

“With Shane, you just have to weather his exuberance, for lack of a better term. He’s going to want to just let it all hang out and jump off the top of the stadium if he can.”

“So I think that’s the most important thing – just let him do his deal. And then eventually, of course, what’s going to happen is – much like in a soccer or rugby match – that emotion’s going to wear off and from there the better team, or, in this case, The Undertaker, does what he does best.”

Why The Undertaker would agree to this match:

“He has a challenge in front of him, and that’s what it is. I don’t know if there’s necessarily a nefarious back story or anything like that.”
