Shinsuke Nakamura Talks Coming To WWE, His Mannerisms & Not Liking His WWE Theme At First

Shinsuke Nakamura was recently interviewed by ESPN in promotion for NXT TakeOver and WrestleMania. During the interview Nakamura spoke on several subjects which included his mannerisms, coming to WWE and not liking his WWE theme at first.

Here are some highlights:

Regarding his Mannerisms:

“Everything is from my real life, from the moving of the fingers and the body movement — that’s from classic ballet or martial arts. I trained in classic ballet and martial arts. Some things come from yoga, some things come from kobudo or kung fu, I just mixed them together. It’s like hybrid martial arts style”

Not Liking His WWE Theme At First:

“Before my debut, WWE sent me a sample of the music and I sent it back. I said, ‘I don’t want to use this, I don’t want to use this.’ They tried to keep it and I said, ‘No, no, no.’ Finally, I asked them if they could listen to some samples, and we went back and forth and finally they sent me what you hear now, and I said, ‘Yes, OK. I’ll use this one.’”

Leaving NJPW to Come To WWE:

“For a long time, almost 14 years, I wrestled in Japan, so I didn’t think I would leave New Japan Pro Wrestling, but I started changing my mind. I wanted to see the other world. I wanted to change something. I wanted to be bigger. I wanted to change my world so I felt it was my destiny to come here. At TakeOver Dallas I wrestled Sami Zayn. I never wrestled with him before. Everything was for the first time, but I already had experienced wrestling at huge venues so I wasn’t nervous — but that match was huge for me.”

WWE Provide “Injury” Update On Shinsuke Nakamura

WWE has provided an “injury” update on Shinsuke Nakamura following his match at TakeOver San Antonio against Bobby Roode where he lost the NXT Championship. Nakamura was not at this week’s NXT television tapings as he is selling the injury.

Here is what WWE had to say:

Nakamura Suffers Knee Injury At NXT TakeOver: San Antonio

Following NXT TakeOver: San Antonio Triple H held a live Q&A session after the show on Facebook. During that interview Triple H commented that Shinsuke Nakamura may have suffered a issue with his patella or a dislocated kneecap. Nakamura is set to get an X-Ray to specify the issues he’s having.

It’s interesting to note that this is possibly a story-line injury.

Kenny Omega Talks About a Possible NXT Debut & Nakamura’s Debut Being an Insult

Kenny Omega was recently intereviewed by Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, and discussed seeing the debut of Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT, a possible NXT Debut & More.

Here are some highlights:

Being Offered a Spot With NXT:

“I have spoken with the heads at NXT, and they’ve all said, ‘If you want to come down, let us know–the second your visa is in place, you’re on TV the next week, I thought that was really cool of them to say and I appreciate they recognize that I’d add some value to their product, so I always kept that in my mind as an option. But this is going back to my Deep South days–I still haven’t quite shown them what I can do on my own, and that’s what I think this year is going to do for me.”

Reacting to The Debut of Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT as an Insult:

“I certainly think it is. A lot of people heard the reaction that AJ received when he came out of nowhere at the Royal Rumble–if Nakamura debuted at WrestleMania, knowing that fans in that crowd travel from around the globe for that weekend, Nakamura’s reaction would have dwarfed AJ’s. That’s not saying Nakamura is better than AJ, but that atmosphere is built for someone who eats it up like Nakamura. It’s not like you can say, ‘We’ll hold off until next year’s WrestleMania. It’s a shame that they have decided it was on an NXT show. As someone who knows what he’s capable of and seen his character develop, I just think it’s a missed opportunity. Perhaps it’s a trust issue, not knowing if he can handle the big stage right off the bat or whether the fans will appreciate the kind of character he brings to the table.”
