During this week’s Talking Smack segment, it was announced that the Usos will defend their Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship against American Alpha on next week’s Smackdown Live broadcast live from Boston.
Here are your WWE Smackdown Live highlights from last night:
WWE has announced that on Tuesday March 21st, The Usos will challenge American Alpha for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship ahead of WrestleMania 33.
See WWE’s announcement below:
Some fans have been speculating as of late if Smackdown Live Tag team Champions Chad Gable and Jason Jordan will defend their championships at WrestleMania 33. They have had a minor feud with the Usos as of late, but with very little buildup.
It’s expected that a match will be made between the two teams for Wrestlemania 33 as we inch closer to the event. There is potential that it may be a kickoff match.
During tonight’s WWE TLC PPV Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt managed to beat Heath Slater and Rhyno to capture the SMACKDOWN LIVE tag team championship.
This marks Bray Wyatt’s first WWE title reign.
During Tuesday’s broadcast of Smackdown Live, Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon revleaed the new championships for the Tag Team and Women division.
Here’s the video:
Here’s a closer look at the titles:
As we saw WWE is creating a new WWE Universal Championship for Raw, considering the WWE Championship is now on the blue brand. But questions are now arising for the women’s & tag team division and if Smackdown will introduce their own.
WWE.com has posted a preview for tonight’s SmackDown promoting such an idea.
Seeing as how Raw is in the midst of creating a WWE Universal Championship to offset the void created in the absence of the WWE Title, couldn’t SmackDown Live conceivably create addition titles as well — for the good of say their many talented tag teams and elite Women’s division? With Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon, anything is possible.

Welcome to another MOCLive Raw recap following last nights Payback PPV. Considering no one guessed the theme from last week there will be no shout-outs tonight but the theme was glasses… simply glasses. I will be doing another Theme Game tonight so pay attention and let me know throughout the week at @MindofCarnage what the theme may be. Remember to have to be following me on Twitter to be eligible for the shout-out, and guess as many times you want.
Last night at the Payback PPV, we saw no titles change hands and we got a teaser of the Shield reuniting, but that was only a one time thing and tonight we get three title defenses; the US title, Tag title and the Divas title and we also should be getting more information on the upcoming Elimination Chamber on May 31st.. In addition Stephanie McMahon is also rumored to return tonight, so we’ll have to see what role she plays during tonight’s show.
So ahead of tonight’s Raw Pre-Show lets start with your fist GIF, and no cute is not the theme.
Remember to keep refreshing for the most up-to-date info.
As mentioned earlier, Three titles are on the line tonight on Raw, you can see the WWE released image below.
WWE Raw Pre-Show
Cena does another US open challenge tonight.
Xavier Woods is banned from ringside for the match, just so he doesn’t slide in and confuse the ref to get another win. If you haven’t heard Xavier sneaked into the ring at Payback last night and got the pin over Cesaro not showing his face to the ref and signifying that all black people look alike when dressed the same… what a racist ref.
Divas title on the line once more. Will Naomi get the win, maybe with some help from Tamina.
Here we go with Raw!
Opening Segment: Eden introduces Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to the ring where a podium stands dressed in a red tarp. It appears that under the podium there may be a new Title. Stephanie starts it off asking if the audience missed her and works the negative reaction from the crowd. She hypes Payback and says that life is sweeter when your a winner. Rollins defeated 3 opponents at Payback and proved to everyone that he is everything the Authority say that he is. Triple H says that “he told you so” meaning that Rollins was the man in the WWE. He calls Rollins the future of the WWE and the Authority wants to pay tribute to their investment and provide us “Seth Rollins, Architect of a Dream.”
Stephanie says that Orton, Ambrose and Roman will have to acknowledge there failure and are now in the back of the line. They now focus on the title under the podium and it turns out to be the Intercontinental championship. They say that it took Daniel courage to stand in the middle of the ring and prove that Stephanie McMahon was right. Daniel’s body couldn’t hold up and lost two championships over two years. Triple H hypes the Elimination Chamber match that will crown a new Intercontinental Champion and sends us off to a video package hyping the match where the announcers just talk about it.
Triple H says that bones will be broken and careers will be shortened at Elimination Chamber. Stephanie tries to hype the WWE Network but gets interrupted by Sheamus.
Sheamus comes in apologizing for interrupting, and at this point the podium is removed from the crowd. Sheamus says that he’s a big fan of the Authority and says that they appreciate true taste and class. Sheamus says that they don’t need an elimination chamber for the IC title but should be given to Sheamus for being the one who ended the YES movement and re-aggravating Daniel’s neck injury. He shows us a video recap where Sheamus is said to have re-injured Daniel Bryan but as Sheamus tries to hype himself up, Ryback’s music hits and he makes his way out, with his mid section bandaged.
Ryback comes out to a great ovation and makes fun of Sheamus’ look saying how stupid he looks. Ryback hypes Daniel Bryan and says that he has more heart and determination than Sheamus will ever have and gets a YES chant for it. Ryback continues to hype Daniel Bryan and says that if Sheamus liked picking on little guys, how about Sheamus picks on the ‘Big Guy’ Ryback tonight on Raw. Ryback doesn’t like bullies and certainly doesn’t like Sheamus.
They face off and Stephanie announces that both will be in the Elimination Chamber for the IC title in two weeks and Triple H says that why not work with this heat and makes a match between both of them for right now.
Sheamus vs. Ryback
An aggressive match but kind of sluggish and slow to open Raw. Sheamus focused on Ryback’s injured ribs following Payback and kept the advantage for a bit. The match as I said is slow paced and it appears WWE is just rushing the Elimination Chamber story-lines considering they only have two weeks until the event. But as for an opening match, it wasn’t as effective as a Ziggler match or a Rollins match. The shift in momentum came when Ryback threw Sheamus on top of the announcers table and throwing him in the ring corner. Ryback looks for the shell shock but Sheamus slaps Ryback’s ribs breaking out and lands a quick Brogue kick to give him the 1..2..3!
Following the match the announcer say that the remaining 4 competitors for the Elimination Chamber IC title match will be announced on Raw.
Backstage: Stephanie and Triple H hype the “architect of a dream” party to be held tonight, and Stephanie McMahon hypes Kane and his help last night. Rollins and J&J come in celebrating with champagne and Rollins pours everyone a glass. He makes fun of Kane and says that he has something to celebrate for Rollins saving Kane’s job.
Ambrose comes in to everyone’s surprise and says that a few weeks ago Dean beat Rollins single-handed and wants a rematch and this time for the title. Triple H and Steph laughs and tells Kane that he can handle this one and walk off.
Kane says that it’s up to the champion because he is the future and Rollins laughs saying that Dean is in the back of the line and should say hi to Roman and Orton. Dean makes fun of Kane and calls him a glorified butler and mentions Undertaker and says Kane has lost it. Kane angry makes a match for tonight pinning Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt. Dean grabs Kane’s champagne and tells him that he shouldn’t drink on the clock. Dean downs the drink and walks off. Great segment.
In Ring: Renee stands in the ring and introduces Neville for what appears to be an interview.
Renee asks about him being a new Main Roster superstar. Neville says that he’s competed all over the world and nothing compares to compete in the WWE. Neville may not be the biggest guy but there is nothing that will stop him. When he flies through the air, he is 10 feet tall and invincible. She asks about the him being the longest reigning NXT champion and all of a sudden Bo Dallas music comes on and he comes out.
Bo comes out and calls Neville the little engine that couldn’t and calls his career a joke. He bashes Neville some more and Neville comes back saying that he started his reign by beating Bo Dallas… and he Bo-lieves that. Bo goes on the attack and Neville gets him out of the ring as Barrett’s music hits.
King Barrett vs. Neville (Bo Dallas on Commentary)
I understand these two can put on awesome matches but it would be nice to see them fight other people. The more you put them against each-other the more exciting the match gets.
Barrett focuses on the tweaked knee of Neville following Payback and keeps the advantage for most of the match. Neville tries several times to gain an offence but because of his knee he keeps screwing up his moves. He trips off a springboard move which allow Barrett to take advantage landing his Bull Hammer for the 1..2..3!
Winner: King Barrett
Following the match Bo Dallas climbs back into the ring and begins attacking Neville on his injured knee. He hits it against the corner post a few times and taunts in the middle of the ring with his pose. Bo-lieve that Bo just fucked Neville up!
Announcers: They hype the I Quit match and focus on what Rusev may, or may not have said leading to Lana saying “i quit” on behalf of Rusev. You can read the translation here.
Announcers: They recap Titus O’Neil getting the 2015 Mega Dad of the Year award.
Rusev Segment: Rusev comes out waving the Russian flag and is without Lana.
Rusev starts saying that there will be no Lana, and that there is no Lana. Lana needs to learn her place and doesn’t speak for Rusev. Rusev knows how to say I Quit, and at this time a “we want Lana” chant begins. Rusev works the crowd and says that he never said “i quit” Rusev says he crushed Cena and even made him pass out. He says that Lana quit becuase she is weak. Rusev calls out John Cena and the Authority to restart the match, but instead Lana comes out.
Lana comes out and Rusev says that he told her to not come out. Lana comes out saying that she wants to explain herself to everyone. She says that Rusev doesn’t seem to be who he is. Lana and Rusev go back and forth in Bulgarian and Lana says that she believes in Rusev, from the beginning and throughout everything. Lana says that she was trying to protect Rusev becuase she cared for him. Rusev calls her pathetic and disgusting. Lana says that she couldn’t stand there watching him in pain screaming in Bulgarian “I Quit!”
Rusev appears angry as an “you quit” chant begins. Rusev yells that Lana is a liar and says that there is only one. Rusev needs no one and says that Lana makes him weak and tells Lana to go back to where she comes from. No body needs her.
Lana begins walking out as the crowd begin a “No” chant. Lana walks up the ramp as Rusev yells in the ring towards her. Lana walks to the backstage area and Rusev taunts in the ring as if he just won a battle.
Announcers: They recap the fatal-4-way match at Payback and when the Shield had a short lived reunion. They also showcase the Tag Team Title match pinning New Day vs Kidd and Cesaro with Xavier woods being banned from ringside.
Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt
This at least gives a great nostalgic feeling of past Wyatt Family vs. Shield matches from last year.
Bray and Dean go back and forth as they usually do getting the crowd excited and pumped for their match. Bray holds most of the offence throughout the match and takes us to commercial connecting a suplex to Ambrose on the outside mats.
When we return from commercials Bray still holds the offence and eventually the action leads to both of them connecting a double clothesline on the outside. The ref reaches 9 and both roll back in the ring. They argue back and forth and begin delivering punch after punch on each other. Dean gets the upper-hand this time landing his cross body and running forearm on Bray followed by the running bull dog. Bray heads to the ropes and Ambrose connects a running dropkick and leg drop off the second ropes. Dean pins for a 2 count and tries for a neck breaker but Bray counter and Dean re-counters taking Wyatt over the top rope. Dean lands a suicide dive on Bray and rolls him back into the ring. Both try to land their finisher but both counter and Bray lands a hard clothesline giving him a 2 count.
Bray hangs upside down in the corner and looks to try for Sister Abigail but Ambrose counters with a slap to the face which only angers Bray. Bray lands a punch and Dean rebounds off the ropes landing his own clothesline. Dean pins for a 2 count and begins beating the mat in anger. He gets Bray in the corner and lifts him on the top turnbuckle. He tries for a super plex but Bray fights out and throws him off. Bray jumps from the second rope and tries for his senton but Ambrose moves out of the way and climbs the same corner turnbuckles. Joey from J&J Secutiy climbs on the apron distracting the ref and Jamie comes from behind pushing Dean off the top ropes right into Bray Wyatt’s Sister Abigail, and that gives Bray the 1..2..3!
Winner: Bray Wyatt
J&J run up the ramp and meet Rollins at the stage area mocking Dean Ambrose, as Bray kneels over the downed Dean Ambrose.
Announcers: They hype the upcoming Divas championship match pinning Naomi vs. Nikki Bella, John Cena’s US open challenge and the rematch from last night; New Day vs. Kidd and Cesaro WWE Tag team championships.
Announcers: When they come back from commercials they hype WWE Tough Enough and show more Tough Enough entrant videos.
New Day (c) vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro (w/ Natalya) (WWE Tag Team Championships)
Kofi and Big E come out saying that they have a situation right now. Xavier Woods has been banned at ringside due to come controversy during their victory at WWE Payback. They call it injustice and say that even though they will win tonight, their meant to battle 5 other teams for their championships at Elimination Chamber. The odds are being stacked against the New Day, but fear not because through the power of positivity they will persevere. They try for a New Day Rocks chant, but get the usual New Day Sucks.
Cesaro and Kidd have the advantage over the New Day leading into the first commercial break during this match.
We come back from commercials and New Day has the advantage but all hell breaks loose and both members of each team comes in and the loses control calling for the bell.
Winner: No Contest
Cesaro takes out Big E and looks to swing Kofi but Xavier comes running in and attacks Cesaro. As New Day beats on Cesaro and Kidd the Lucha Dragons come in and take out all members of the New Day. Los Matadores now run in and step int the ring and land on Big E on the outside. Now the Ascension run in and attack Los Matadores, Lucha Dragons and Tyson Kidd. The Prime Time Players now run in and take out the Ascension and Kofi Kingston. The Lucha Dragons run by them and land on the Heel teams on the outside. Titus grabs Xavier on the outside and throws him into the ring. Darren lands his finisher on Xavier and the Prime Time Players stand tall over all teams.
The Announcers announce that the New Day will put their titles on the line against the Prime Time Players, Los Matadores, Lucha Dragons, Ascension & Tyson Kidd & Cesaro at Elimination Chamber.
John Cena US Open Challenge
Cena comes out to a decent reaction and holds up his US title and calls it the Championship of our United States of America, and as expected it gets a good reaction from the crowd. He calls his references his saying “never give up” and says that that’s what gave him his win at WWE Payback. He says that he has pride and admiration to carry the red/white and blue into battle for every single night. He points out to some soldiers in the audience and says that he fights for them. He references his open challenge and calls the US title “our championship” and finished it with “The Champ is Here.” He calls out his challenger and we sit waiting, and its….
John Cena (c) vs Kevin Owens (c) (WWE United States Championship)
To everyone’s amazement Kevin Owens comes out as the challenger to John Cena’s United States Championship.
Kevin stands in front of Cena with the NXT title and grabs a mic. Owens congratulates John for his victory over Rusev and says that he would introduce himself, but Cena knows who he is. For those who don’t know who Owens is than those people don’t deserve his time. Cena grabs a mic and introduces Kevin Owens personally. Kevin thanks him and says that Cena feels responsible for causing the injury to Sami Zayn, but Cena shouldn’t concern himself with that becuase Sami was injured well before that, cause Owens was the one who injured him. Owens hypes NXT Unstoppable and says that he will finish the job this Wednesday. Cena now gets in Owens face saying that no one should ever be called a waste of time, and without the audience there is now Owens, no Raw, and no WWE. John Cena looks to give veteran advise but Owens stops him saying that Owens has been doing this for 15 years, well before Cena but he didn’t get the opportunity til now.
Cena looks in Owens eyes and says that there is no fire in his eyes and has bitten off way more than he can chew. Cena says at NXT Unstoppable Sami Zayn will finish Owens and grab the NXT title. Cena also says that the US title is still open so if Owens wants some, come get some. Owens says that he does fight for a prize and Owens already has a title, and he says No to the US Challenge. Owens continues saying that one day they will fight but one his time and terms. Kevin Owens surprises Cena with a kick and his rebound power-bomb. Owens grabs the US title, lays it beside Cena, stomps on it and raises the NXT title over him mocking the US championship, the WWE universe and John Cena.
That was a great segment, may have not been a match but was still entertaining.
Don’t know what to tell you, but Owens has made me excited for a John Cena match in the future.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Stardust
This was a quick match with decent back and forth and Ziggler hitting his Zig-Zag for the 1..2..3!
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
In Ring: Michael Cole comes in the ring and interviews Ziggler about his match last night at Payback. Ziggler jokes that he’s hideous but says that even though the scar hurts, nothing hurts more than losing to Sheamus last night. Michael Cole comes out saying that the last spot in the Elimination Chamber match for the IC Title has been filled by Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler says that he will win no matter the cost and all of a sudden Lana comes walking down to the ring.
Ziggler surprised by this stares as Lana walks in the ring smiling towards Ziggler. Both stare of as Lana gets closer to Ziggler and lays a small and sensual smooch on him. Ziggler looks around and smiles as the crowd give a YES chant. Ziggler and Lana listen to a “one more time” chant and both kiss once again.
Ziggler thinks this is a setup and stares around until Rusev now comes running in. Rusev attacks Ziggler and stares at Lana yelling at her. Lana stands her ground facing Rusev and as Rusev yells she lays a hard slap across his face. Rusev remains silent and looks to try and attack but from behind Ziggler lands his Zig-Zag and assists Lana out of the ring and walks with her up the ramp.
Backstage: Kane is walking around until he’s stopped by Adam Rose and Rosa Mendes making out in the backstage area… Kane shakes it off and continues to walk.
What is it, prom night?
Luke Harper & Erick Rowan vs. Fandango & Zack Ryder
What’s to expect out of this match? Nothing much happened, as Harper and Rowan had most of the advantage throughout the match. I’m pretty sure you guessed it, Harper and Rowan won.
Winners: Luke Harper and Erick Rowan
Backstage: The Bella head out for the match and Stephanie stops them. Steph wishes Nikki her best wishes and addresses Daniel Bryan’s injury and says that Brie has had some mental problems with the issues Daniel is suffering. Stephanie has scheduled some therapy for Brie and thinks it’s best she doesn’t head to ringside with Nikki cause she may be a distraction for her.
Looks like Nikki’s heading into this battle alone, and I guarantee she loses.
Nikki Bella (c) vs. Naomi (w/ Tamina) (WWE Divas Championship)
I know this is a title match and the main event, but I’m still not recapping or caring about this… So here’s another GIF.
Winner: Nikki Bella via DQ
Nikki had Naomi in the rack attack but Tamina came in landing a superkick
Backstage: Triple H and Kevin Owens shake hands and Triple H walks away. Owens walks but gets stopped by Renee Young and says that his conversation with Triple H has given him a match at Elimination Chamber against John Cena.
Final Segment: The final segment for Raw has Triple H, Stephanie and Kane in the ring for Seth Rollins appreciation “architect of a dream.”
Rollins comes out with J&J and gets a good heel reaction. Triple H hypes Seth Rollins and tells him that he’s lived up to every claim he’s ever made. Triple H says that he sees himself in Seth Rollins and admits that his Pedigree was pretty good and gave him goosebumps. Triple H says that the Authority is here for Rollins and the WWE universe is here to celebrate Rollins.
He gets a pretty crappy reaction from the crowd. Triple H continues saying that members of the Authority want to say some words about Rollins. Kane starts it out as a :”Justin Beiber” chant begins. Kane gets on the mic and says that there are so many things he would like to say to him. Even though they haven’t seen things eye-to-eye but that’s expected as Kane is over a foot taller than him. Kane jokes around and says that he’s glad Rollins is still champion and is best for business. Rollins asks if there is nothing else Kane would like to say to him. Kane reluctantly thanks Rollins for saving his job and sends us off to a video package of Seth Rollins and hyping his career in WWE. From turning on the Shield to joining the Authority and winning the WWE title.
Rollins appreciates the video and Jamie gets on the mic now and says it’s a privilege to fight by Rollins side. Jamie continues saying how Triple H and Stephanie have made the right decision to get behind Rollins. Jamie gives the mic to Joey who appears to get choked up. Joey almost gets something out but Dean Ambrose’ music hits and he comes his way to the ring.
Ambrose gets in the ring in front of the Authority and grabs a mic. Steph gets in his face and says that he has a lot of nerve getting in the ring with the Authority. Dean makes a Justin Beiber joke and says that he’s giving Rollins another opportunity for a match with Dean Ambrose. Rollins says that this is his moment and Ambrose seems he’s the one dreaming if he thinks he’s getting another shot at the WWE title. Dean says he’s a line jumper and says he wants his championship match, or else. Stephanie now gets in his face and says that Dean hasn’t earned anything, he even lost at last nights Payback PPV. Stephanie tells Seth to get him and the Authority back off.
Rollins takes off his jacket and tries to attack Ambrose but Dean fights back. J&J try to get involved but Dean takes them out. The action spills to the outside and Ambrose lands a suplex on Rollins and once again takes out J&J. Rollins tries to attack but Ambrose is quick and throws Rollins against the announcers table. Dean heads to the time keepers area and uncovers a stack of cinder blocks and places Rollins over them. He holds him down and looks to hit him over the back with a chair and threatens to if he doesn’t get his match. Stephanie says that if he lets Rollins go, they’ll give Dean the WWE Championship match opportunity.
Ambrose looks to hit him but J&J again get in the way and Dean once again takes out J&J with a clothesline from the barricade. Rollins tries to run away through the ring and Ambrose follows. He tries to grab Rollins but J&J get involved again and Dean takes them out for the 3rd time. Kane comes in and lands a big boot but Ambrose comes back connecting a hard clothesline and looks to land his dirty deeds. Rollins comes in breaking that up and takes out Dean Ambrose with the pedigree. Rollins stands over Ambrose with the WWE title as the announcers claim that Dean Ambrose will face Rollins at Elimination Chamber for the WWE title.
