All Wrestlemania 31 Champions Out With Injury

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Many of WWE’s top Superstars are currently out with injuries. But the more interesting thing to note is that all of the talents who left WrestleMania31 as a champion are currently on the injury list.

* Seth Rollins – WWE World Heavyweight Champion
* John Cena – WWE US Champion
* Daniel Bryan – WWE Intercontinental Champion
* Nikki Bella – WWE Divas Champion
* Tyson Kidd and Cesaro – WWE Tag Team Champions

There are many other starts out with injury, some of which are serious and some that are not. Konnor returned at Thursday night’s WWE NXT TV tapings following reports of a jaw injury, so it appears he’s good to go now.

Sasha Banks denies she’s injured but she’s known to not “let on” to WWE officials when she’s suffering from an injury but there is a reason why they are keeping her out of action for now.

Did A Wrestlemania Glitch Foretell The End Of Seth Rollins Championship Reign?

MPBrouser at reddit’s Squared Circle points out a production glitch on the big screens behind then-new WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins while he was celebrating on the ramp in Santa Clara after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to make WrestleMania‘s main event a Triple Threat match and pin Roman Reigns.

The glitch was the logo for Survivor Series (PPV) where now Rollins’ successor will be crowned, flashed multiple times. You can see in the GIF below..

It’s just an ironic moment now that he’s injured and has relinquished the belt prior to Survivor Series.

WWE will hold a tournament to crown the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series. At this time no additional details have been announced for the Tournament.

WWE issued the following:

WrestleMania generates $139 million for Santa Clara/San Jose region

STAMFORD, Conn. – WWE, Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo announced today that WrestleMania 31 generated $139 million in economic impact for the Santa Clara/San Jose region this past March, according to a study conducted by the Enigma Research Corporation. This marks the second largest economic impact in WrestleMania history, and the fourth consecutive year that WrestleMania generated more than $100 million in economic impact for its host region.

Over the past nine years, WrestleMania has generated more than $700 million in cumulative economicimpact for the cities that have hosted the event. WrestleMania 31 also generated approximately $23.2 million in federal, state and local taxes.

“On behalf of the beautiful city of Santa Clara, I sincerely thank all WWE fans that visited Levi’s Stadium for WrestleMania 31,” said Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews. “The event exceeded our expectations, and we would absolutely welcome the opportunity to once again host WWE’s marquee event.”

“WrestleMania 31 gave passionate fans that came from near and far an experience they’ll never forget,” said San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. “I thank WWE for choosing to host their longest-running flagship event in Silicon Valley, for its contributions to our community, and for driving economic benefit in our region.”

“We are proud that WrestleMania continues to deliver an incredible economic benefit for its host region,” said John P. Saboor, WWE Executive Vice President, Special Events. “Our WrestleMania Week success in the Bay Area would not have been possible without the support of Mayor Matthews, Mayor Liccardo, the San Francisco 49ers and countless other public- and private-sector partners that embraced WWE’s worldwide fan base. We are excited with the planning that is already underway with our new partners in the Dallas/Arlington area for WrestleMania 32.”

A capacity crowd of 76,976 fans from all 50 states and 53 countries attended WWE’s pop-culture extravaganza this past March, making it the highest-grossing event in WWE history. Key highlights from the study include:

$139 million in direct, indirect and induced impact derived from spending by visitors to the Santa Clara/San Jose region for WrestleMania 31.

78 percent of fans that attended WrestleMania were from outside the greater Santa Clara/San Jose region and stayed an average of 3.3 nights.

$22 million was spent on hotels and accommodations within the Santa Clara/San Jose region.

The economic impact derived from WrestleMania Week was equal to the creation of 1,218 full-time jobs for the area.

$6.2 million was spent by visitors to the Santa Clara/San Jose region at area restaurants.

Next year, WrestleMania 32 will take place Sunday, April 3, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Nov. 6, at 10 AM ET/9 AM CT. The event will be broadcast live on WWE Network in more than 175 countries.

Several WrestleMania 31 Notes & The Reason The Main Event Time Frame Was Cut

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

– Regarding timing issues at WrestleMania, the main event was supposed to go about 10 minutes longer than it did. The segment with The Rock and Ronda Rousey went 24 minutes long and officials were going to make up for it by taking time out of Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker but given how brutal the main event was going to be, they figured it was better to take time off that match because it would be better on Reigns and Lesnar.

– It’s worth noting that on a four-hour pay-per-view that had just seven matches, the longest match was 18 minutes and 34 seconds – Sting vs. Triple H. The next longest match on the main card was the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight Title at 16 minutes and 44 seconds. The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the pre-show went 18 minutes and 8 seconds.

– WWE’s WrestleMania 31 had over 1,000,000 Google searches back on March 31st, the most for any other topic. Coming out of the show, these WrestleMania stars had buzz on Google: Ronda Rousey (100,000 searches); The Undertaker (81,000 searches); The Rock (56,000 searches); Brock Lesnar (56,000); Triple H (52,000); Roman Reigns (48,000); Seth Rollins (46,000); John Cena (41,000); Bray Wyatt (22,000); Rusev (21,000); Stephanie McMahon (15,000); Randy Orton (13,000); Hulk Hogan (10,000); Daniel Bryan (6,000); Kevin Nash (6,000); Scott Hall (3,000); Dolph Ziggler (2,000).

European Fan Robbed During WrestleMania 31 Week

According to NBCBayArea.com, a WWE fan from Poland was robbed during the week of WrestleMania 31. The report from the San Jose police states that the 21 year old man was befriended by a person at the VTA parking lot.

The fan was offered a discounted ticket, and was also told that could save more money on public transit by using his hotel key card. That was not true. The police believe that the robber switched hotel key cards with the fan, and that allowed him access to his hotel room, where he stole his computer and cash. Officials from WWE were informed of the crime, and were looking in to a way they could help him.

Reason Why WrestleMania Had Limited Fireworks This Year, & Announcers Note

The reason there wasn’t as much pyro at this year’s WrestleMania event compared to past shows is because WWE had to follow strict FAA guidelines, as Levi’s Stadium is directly under flight paths to the San Jose International Airport.

— WWE.com is reporting that the RAW announce team will return to work at next Monday’s show. The article states Michael Cole was diagnosed with a bulging disc and is battling severe neck, back and shoulder pain after being attacked by Brock Lesnar at this past Monday’s show. JBL was diagnosed with an abdominal wall tear and Booker T is dealing with contusions and soreness.

Changes Made To The WrestleMania Main Event

The original plan for Roman Reigns vs. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 was for the match go to 35 minutes with entrances. However, the pay-per-view ran long and the match was cut down, according to PWInsider.

WWE also cut a video for Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker out of the broadcast.
